Skateboard Hardware Buying Guide
Skateboarding Hardware Buyers Guide
Which Hardware should you get?
This is used to connect the skateboard trucks to the skateboard deck. Each truck requires four bolts and locknuts. Hardware is sold in sets of eight, though you can purchase parts individually as needed. Keep in mind that the screws may have an Allen or Phillips head.
We also recommend you get a proper skateboarding tool to adjust any pieces related to the board such as trucks and bearings. The ones you get should also match the style of the deck you have and if you have risers installed on them because if you do, you will need to get the in a larger size that the regular ones, if you do have them, this chart will help you make an informed choice:
7/8" to 1" hardware - no riser
1" to 1 1/8" hardware - 1/8" riser
1 1/4" hardware - 1/4" riser
1 1/2" hardware - 1/2" riser
If you notice that the bolts start to look stripped or rusty, it's a good time to invest in a new set. This will happen mostly over time and like any other metal hardware piece it is important to keep your board from rain or skating through wet surfaces which could also make a very bad impact on your bearings and other metal pieces
It is one of the easiest parts of the gear to buy,and they are composed of the following materials:
- Nuts
- Bolts
- Locknuts
Each set you buy will come with 8 bolts and 8 locknuts, here is a little chart to keep in mind when you are getting hardware if you trucks have or not risers and its height, because it WILL make a difference.
Pro tip:
Use a set of bolts and locknuts in a different color from the rest and put them on the tail or the nose of the board to be able to tell them apart after the graphics have been worn out!
