Tampa, located in Florida State is known for being a big city and business center as well as a Florida tourist magnet. The people living here get to enjoy the beautiful landscapes of Florida's Gulf Coast and its accompanying climate of comfort.

The skateboarding community here is huge thanks to the oldest skate project Skatepark of Tampa. Since 1993, this place has brought together the best skateboarders in the world to compete in the most important events, Tampa AM and Tampa PRO.

For more than 15 years this event has given each winner the chance to become a professional skateboarder and also be recognized and supported by the biggest skate companies. Skaters who have proven to be the best ones include Nyjah Huston, Eric Koston, Luan Oliveira, Shane O’Neill, Paul Rodriguez, Ryan Sheckler and so many others.

Unfortunately, this year Tampa had to cancel its event due to COVID-19, which opened new opportunities to refresh the global format through social media. "We’re hyped to introduce the #GlobalAMdemic, a 100% free-to-enter digital skateboarding contest, open to EVERYONE around the world (except pros)," said @spottampa on its Instagram profile.

The contest will be open for all skateboarders who aren't pro. "The top 12 prequalify into next year’s Tampa Am and the winner goes straight to Semis", Tampa AM organizers explained to the community.

To enter, the skater will have to film their best line up of to 60 seconds, it could be in the street or park modalities and each participant will have to post it on Instagram from September 1st to 30th and use the hashtags #GlobalAMdemic, likewise tag @spottampa and @monsterenergy.

However, the event will have some rules to make sure that each competitor is accomplishing the challenge. The line up has to be clean, without edited footage, cuts, without music and there can be only one entry per skater. "If you don't have a public Instagram profile you can submit a link to your video at SPoTTampa.com/GlobalAmdemic," Tampa described on its post.

This month will be to prequalify the skaters around the world, then the skater is gonna look for a registration confirmation via a comment from @spottampa, at that point the selected skater will have to pay attention for the next level and new date.

"The top 30 qualifiers will be featured on a Semi-Finals broadcast on October 7th. The top 12 skaters from Semi-Finals advance to Finals and will be required to film a Finals run by October 30th," Tampa concludes on Instagram.

The Global AMdemic, “A Digital Amateur Skateboarding Contest” is going to be supported by Monster, Independent, Santa Cruz, Mob Grip, Bronson Speed Co, OJ Wheels, The Ramp Parmor, and TransWorld Skateboarding.

This is a new challenge for those who love to compete, be recorded skating, and who want to expand their talent. So it's time to see what the skateboarding world has to show and to Tampa, this is a new opportunity to maintain its tradition as the iconic event of the year and create a complete digital experience.
