The Olympic Games has been working on an upgrade to give the Olympics a fresh, new image to be inclusive to new generations. This is why the IOC are now looking at the young generations of the day to expand their principles and devotion to newer sports, just like they back in the days did towards sports like athletism, waterpolo, wrestling, artistic gymnastic, tennis, BMX, judo and more.

The next year the Tokyo 2021 Olympics will held as the most awaited event, traditionally held every 4 years but postponed because of the pandemic. Even if that is the closest event, the preparations for the next few events have already started. To date the next Olympic Games have been confirmed and will take place in year 2024 in Paris, France.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) not long ago confirmed skateboarding as a modality that will give the games a young image and which will encourage the community to participate and compete, we also think that the inclusion of skateboarding in the Olympics will increase the level of participation in skateboarding worldwide.

"The four sports that Paris has proposed are fully in line with the 2020 Olympic Agenda because they contribute to making the program more gender-balanced, and urban, they offer the opportunity to connect with the younger generation," said the IOC President Thomas Bach.

Learning How To Qualify For The Olympic Games

To Bach, those sports are aligned with their principles where they provide the new additions to the community the opportunity to be included in the most important event to humanity. If a skateboarder wants to qualify for the olympics, he/she would have to compete on every type of event, like Pan-American, Inter-American, South-American contests, World Championships and many more.

In that way, the opportunity to succeed in every different contest and to qualify into the Olympic Games isn’t an easy job. However, every country can do their best effort and show who is the best. Also, the ones involved in the competition world should know that in the Olympic Games event there is a limitto 20 men and 20 women to each category, Park and Street, he or she will have to assume the judgement system and take advantage of every contest that skateboarders may compete in, even if it is in different countries.

In addition, the conversation between nineteen international federations recognized by the IOC let them take the decision to include these four modalities in the next Olympic Games in Paris in 2024. It's probable that the 2028 Olympic Games will take place in Los Angeles, the place where skateboarding history started, so this is an opportunity for everyone that could take advantage of their talent and the situation to become an Olympic winner.
