Barcelona: The Skateboard Capital of The World

Skateboarding is at the top right now in Spain, so much so that if you want to talk about skateboarding it is impossible not to mention the city of Barcelona, a place that in the last few years has become a mecca for every skater in the world.
The National Association of Skateboarding (ANS) in Spain have had a lot to do with the rise of skateboarding in the country, and especially in Barcelona. They play an important role in the European Association of Skateboarding.


Barcelona: A True Hot Spot for Skating in The World

Almost everything in Barcelona has an air of skate, you can sense it on every street corner and park. Whats more, the two biggest events in skateboarding are celebrated in Barcelona, the Street League Skateboarding (SLS), the Nike SB Pro Open and the Nike SB European Series. These events gather lot of young skaters that come to have  a great time, wether they’re professionals or amateur, everyone enjoys the world class skating spectacle Barcelona has to offer.

Ask any skater why Barcelona is the perfect city, it has good weather, amazing food and a chill atmosphere with cool skating spots. And don’t worry, the police will not be a pain in the ass like other places in Europe. The city has a gothic and modernist architecture. But also an urban design that will interest every skater with it’s ledges, stairs and walls to let your creativity flow. Even a museum have official clearence for skaters to ride on tuesday and sunday evenings.






Where To Stay For Skateboarding in Barcelona

When it comes of knowing where to skate in Barcelona, there are endless spots for you to choose, and it is almost certain you’ll find a good spot in no time. If you think of staying in the city but want to feel the skateboard culture everytime, then The Sant Jordi Hostel located close to the Sagrada Familia is your place to stay, with it’s own inside mini-ramp and skateboarding-themed rooms.

If are talking about skateparks, Barcelona has a lot of them, like the Forum Skate Park and the Mar Bella Skate Park. So it could be in the street or in a skatepark, you have more than one choice to skate as long as you want. With all that has been written and said about skateboarding and Barcelona it is difficult not to give the city the nickname of the Capital of Skateboarding, seeing it as a community that has it’s own rules and needs, Barcelona understands that, and you should go at least once in your life to see it and enjoy it with your own lifes.
