The most enjoyable part of skating are the tricks, they can seem difficult but there are some easy ones to learn for beginners. Here is a step by step explanation of 5 tricks that with a lot of practice you can learn and impress your friends. Don’t worry if you don’t get them on your first try, encourage yourself and practice until you got them.
A Manual is one of the easiest tricks that you could learn when starting skateboarding. In this trick, the skater bends his or her body back to pop up the skateboard and roll over the back wheels. If you can do this, maybe you can try to learn a nose manual, in which you do the same but balance over the front side of the skateboard with the tail off the ground.
This is another basic trick, kick turn, as its name sounds, it's a way to change the direction of your movement. To do a Kick Turn you have to slide your back foot to the tail, put some pressure to hold the front side off the ground and then, with your front foot turn the nose of the skateboard sideways to change the direction of your ride.
This trick is commonly used to gain some speed, it is kind of similar to the kick turn, but the skateboard doesn’t rise too much of from the ground. In a tic tac, the movement depends mostly on your hips and shoulders to turn the nose of the skateboard left and right. So, you raise the skateboard a little bit off the ground and turn alternating right and left side while you roll over the back wheels.
This is a 180° horizontal spin. To do a shove it, you have to first put your front foot a little backwards of the front truck’s screws and your back foot to the edge of the tail. Then, bend your knees and push the skateboard with your back toes without changing your body weight position which should remain at the center. Don’t forget to raise your front foot and to not interrupt the spinning and then catch the board with this same foot.
This is the most popular trick for beginners and was the first trick of many pro skaters. To do an ollie you have to place your back foot on the tail of the skateboard while the front foot is between the middle and the front trucks. Then, bend your knees to make a pop up pushing hard at the tail of the skateboard with your back foot and jump. While you are jumping you have to flex your front foot inward and drag it ahead of the board.
We really expect that this guide is useful to you and help you learn some new tricks. Don’t forget to practice a lot and never give up! Skating is not about talent but is more about persistence, have a lot of fun and get some good SHITⓇ done!
